Easy, Breezy, Beautiful

Today, I am 28, 28 on the 28th as my Grandmother pointed out to me. PBTB made me breakfast and then we headed into the city for "W"s Dr. appointment and a little shopping and then back home again for a church fireside with the Yarn Queen and Rachel. The weather gods were smiling down upon us with 56 degree weather. I don't think I've ever had that good of weather on my birthday. As an adult, I don't necessarily look forward to birthdays, I don't dread them yet either, but I have been looking forward to this one because of "W"s appointment. "W" is now 20 lbs 6 oz and 28 inches long. He is in the 90th percentile in weight and 95th percentile in height.

Presents: PBTB made me a stand for the jewelry box that he made me a while back....I love it! The jewelry box has been sitting on my dresser for a while now and it was a little large for that.

The Yarn Queen made me a grocery bag so that I can be a little more green. I am pretty excited to see the look on the fellow grocery shoppers in our small town when I pull out my own grocery sack.

Both the grandmas sent me money and if you would like to see what I purchased with my birthday money, check "bolt from the blu" tomorrow morning.

A Very Happy Unbirthday, To You!........To Me?

"W" turned 6 months old today. It is his half birthday. It seems like it has taken a million years for him to get this old........kidding........just thought I would try something other than the typical, "they grow up so fast". He has had lots of firsts lately, including saying "Dada". He only makes the sound "Mama" when he is upset and crying. He has gotten up on all fours twice that I know of, once for Dad and once for Grandma. I haven't actually seen it yet. He doesn't sleep through the night yet, hence my permanently blood-shot eyes. He is now wearing mostly 12-18 month clothing, because the waist in everything else is too tight, they are actually tight as well, but I refuse to buy 18-24 month clothing for my 6 month old. We have a Dr. appointment on Thursday and I will report on his percentages.

"W" loves Sunday because his cousin P Diddy comes over to attend church with us. He smiles when P Diddy does his silly dance. P Diddy likes to look after his little cousin. Here they are in their Sunday best. You can see P Diddy in the background if you look closely, again, "W" is a little large.

Fooood, Glor-i-ous Fooood!

We have been experimenting with solids. First, applesauce, second, mashed bananas, third, avocado and tonight, carrots. Wow, there's no doubt, that's "W"s favorite. He was really going for it and ate about double what he normally does.

I Declare!

I have decided to start a new blog.....Bolt from the Blu......The reason for this new endeavor is that I didn't have enough things eating up my free time......kidding......I just thought it would be fun to share things that I think are cool. I will keep everything personal, crafty, & family oriented on Fit For Royalty.

New Banner

The Duchess made me a new banner, how sweet. What do you think? {Pictures courtesy of Anna}

A Parent's Prayer

Thank you, God, for our new baby...
and for all the joy this child
has brought into our home.
We ask your guidance in the years before us.
Help us to be worthy
of the trust in those shining eyes
and the expectations in that little heart.
Give us, we pray, the wisdom
to love without over-protecting,
to guide without forcing,
to help without domineering...
and, above all, to understand and respect
the needs of this tiny and wonderful
human being.
And grant, O Lord, that we will always
find Your loving presence in our hearts
and in our home.
PBTB had the honor of standing in on the blessing of our friend's beautiful little girl today. The blessing of a child is so incredible. I love to hear what the Lord inspires people to say.

Sneetches

Here is my latest knitting experiment. Usually, said experiments end in disaster. I am proud to say, this one, not so much.
These were whipped out in record "new mom" time. They are for two adorable boys, who's mother I am trading for a photo shoot of "W".
I used the pattern "Bob" in Rowan Babies, except without the stripes. I used the star pattern from "Buster" in the same book to go on the bellies. Instead of using a different color I purled the pattern. The pattern calls for Rowan All Seasons Cotton, but I used Debbie Bliss Pure Cotton.
I liked them so much I am making one for "W", now if he would just stay the same size long enough for me to finish it.

The People's Baby

"W" is such a happy guy. I am so blessed to have him. He has such an infectious smile. I have been taking him to work with me lately and he smiles at all the customers. It gives me overwhelming joy that he has such a positive influence and can make people feel so special even as a baby.

Thought of the Day

"Speak of one another’s virtues more than we speak of one another’s faults, let optimism replace pessimism, let our faith exceed our fears"
President Gordon B. Hinckley

I attended Stake Conference today and my stake president shared this quote. It has been floating around in my mind all day, so I thought I would share it.
