Time Flies

I never thought that I'd be saying this, but I am now a few days shy of 6 months pregnant and I have only knit one item for my baby. I need to get on the ball. Here is "W"s first knit item by his Mommy. (At least he has an aunt and a great-grandma who have already finished some things for him.)

Lucky, maybe, more like just plain smart

Well, some say that I got lucky marrying PBTB. I like to say that I was just smart. Some husbands are woodworkers, some are metalworkers, some are construction workers, some are brick masons, some are creative, some are brilliant, some are talented, some are motivated, some are gorgeous. Well, somehow PBTB is a beautiful combination of all of these things. I reap the benefits of his selfless time spent on projects, sometimes for us, but in this case for me. (If "W" is going to be hyper like his daddy, he better be productive as well.) PBTB built this terrarium to house and display the jewelry in my store. Of course, the jewelry has been flying off the shelves ever since. Again, all hail PBTB.

Whew!

Well, I definitely can feel the third trimester creeping up on me a little early. I still have a week and a half before I get there, but I am already getting exhausted sooner than usual. Today, of course, did not help. It was our local high school's junior prom. This, for florists, translates into something similar, but not as dreadful, as Valentine's Day. As I said last Feb. 14, "I have never felt like I had to work so hard to make a successful day" (dollarwise, that is). I spent the entire day making corsages and boutonnieres and topped it all off with a funeral arrangement. Selling furniture takes much less effort to meet the same dollar amount. I am, however, grateful that our flower business is picking up. While I was working away, PBTB was getting a little work done of his own. He started working on "W"'s crib. Hoorah for the man in the yellow hat. Ok, so his hat is brown. I just like to use quotes from Curious George. I'll post pics when there is a little more to look at than random pieces of wood.

Easter Ease

Traditionally the Yarn Queen's Royal family gathers in St. George over Easter weekend. PBTB and I are the only ones from her bloodline that usually attend. Of course, the same was true this year. Not a whole lot of time was spent with the royal family, but we did get some fishing in. PBTB and I are learning to fly fish. We practiced our skills at Sand Hollow Reservoir, but as usual, were skunked. No worries, we had a good time. Next time we may visit Quail Creek for fishing, too many ATVs at Sand Hollow.

There is a sideshot of my belly (21.5 weeks!)

Friends Like Us

I have thrown lots of baby showers, too many to count. Today, it was Mel's turn. Her baby girl, Lindsey, is due May 30th. As I told the Yarn Queen today, half joking, "People are lucky to know us". Mel received mostly handmade items, that were absolutely adorable.

Other highlights of the evening, including beautiful peach blossoms, complements of the vacant house next door.
Now I'm exhausted and have ultimately decided I am retiring from the baby shower business, that is of course, after one final Baby Shower Extravaganza for the Duchess, which will be in August when she comes to visit.

Mission Impossible

The yarn queen and I got a little carried away last month while at Piper's Quilts and Comforts. Four hours and 5 quilts later, this is what we left with. Hopefully they will be quilts before "W" gets here. The Yarn Queen has a lot of faith in us that we will accomplish this impossible task. Although, we almost have two of them finished, of course, almost doesn't mean a whole lot considering I have a lot of almost done projects that never made it to completion. Also, 2 out of 5 is slightly misleading, because we picked the easiest ones to work on first, of course.

"Babies!" (In the words of the Duke)

It's funny how babies come in batches. I know at least a dozen people who are either expecting or just had babies, the Duchess, my sister of course, sister-in-law, cousin (twins!), and lots of friends. This is very fun, as many of them are first time moms like me. My Girlfriend just had a baby shower last night. She is having a girl, Alayna, very cute. It's mandatory that I knit all of my friends & relatives baby sweaters. This one's for Alayna.
